Had a good fun skate with Dylan and Ross last time i was down in carlisle. Everyone got a few tricks (except Ross who got many.) I was pretty stoked to finally get that flump blump on the rail filmed. Good times. totally miss skating with people.. I'm the only skater in Hawick!

Continually laying the smackdown, Lakai give us another great advert. So stoked to have the compilation of all last years adverts and short videos on dvd, sometimes the creative direction in the shorts is much stronger than a full length.

Also, I think that the creative direction is more important in these adverts and short parts as they are more about increasing awareness of the brands vibe. Totally agree with Graham on videos getting too hollywood.

Which is why the Real video, Bones video & Krooked 3d have been some of my favourites in the past few years. They are stripped down, raw skateboarding.

Dear Graham,

Sorry I left you hangin on skype last week. I had to. As soon as you mentioned the Real Video, I had to get the fuck out of there. My local skateshop was holding a copy for me, which I picked up on saturday there. I didn't want no spoilers so thats why I didnt write back!

So. Onto the real video...WOW. Totally awesome, I can see it being a staple of mine from now. Theres just no bullshit with it, it just flows along nicely, solid-part after solid-part.

As Graham said...Ishod Wair & Justin Brock, choice tricks. I loved Busenitz part too, & Ramondetta. The team is full of machines.

I'm real glad this video came along around the start of the nice weather and long evenings. Sick packaging aswell, great for my collection. I'll be enjoying this one for ages!

Flip Should Be Sorry.

Just downloaded Flip's second vid, 'Really Sorry' on Itunes, and I am well disappointed.

They have changed all the music to some shitty 'Baron'esque medley... Im sure Baron is a good musician but music makes a part as much as the skating, and to just have the same style by the same artist takes away from the individuality and memorability of the parts and the skaters.

Also they haven't re-edited any of the parts to fit with the new music so everything looks a bit off and it just takes the impact out of the skating... I'm not saying that the original 'Really Sorry' had the best music ever, but think of some other parts with different music and it just ruins them. Imagine Kircharts part in Mindfield without Speedway, or Saari's Sorry part without Bowie... they would be balls compared to what they are just now.

Which is exactly what this new version of 'flip really sorry' and 'flip extremely sorry are'... they are balls and its down to the music. (not even going to go into the animations)

If they re-do Flip Sorry in this style I will be over Flip skateboards, They used to be awesome and now it seems they have totally lost direction or lost something. Not as Baker as Baker or Shake Junt or Deathwish (who Im really not into but at least they have a consistent feel to them), not close to being as well thought out and presented as Girl/Chocolate.

If I was Saari I would have stayed on Alien Workshop.

(Finally I realise this is a bit of a pointless rant but whatever)(and that flip as a company/Brand are pretty gash now)

Hi skate blog (Graham). It's Spring! Im back out on my my board more these days, what with settling into my job and shit. Feels amazing to be back out, the rust is slowly shaking. I got a new Habitat deck recently too (BELOW), an 8" one so my fat ass got more room. Belfast gets its first outdoor park in a couple months. Im stoked.

Currently watching skate vids and designing shit, looking forward to getting out skating tomorrow, shame I'll be on my own, but Im not going to let that stop me!

It's funny how skateboarding shows it's face in many other places, especially on the internet. The amount of songs/clips etc I've viewed on youtube, and there are just scores of comments simply stating a dude's name or company name etc. I cant fully explain what I'm getting at here. I'm a better in person than in pen (or blog).

This rally of comments really made me smile because for a change, the two people were being nice to each other.

So yeah. Be nice to each other...nah that wasn't what I was get at either.
